Silhouette of Ernest Hemingway and his signature

Cambridge University Press has just released the first volume of the collected letters of Ernest Hemingway. The anthology covers Papa’s correspondence from 1907-1922, and makes available the legendary writer’s letters for the first time. The collection is available in two editions — a standard hard back1, and a limited print run ( 500 total copies) leather bound collector’s edition2.

From Vanity Fair:

“A literary treasure trove … Where Hemingway’s published works had all been so deliberate and painstakingly chiseled, his letters were free-form and expansive—unsanded and unvarnished. . . His letters may prove to be the most honest log of Hemingway’s fascinating life-voyage, the truest sentences he ever wrote. … Their value cannot be overstated.”

Interestingly, this review is not the first time VF(Vanity Fair) has covered Hemingway’s letters. See also: The Hunt for Hemingway and Photos: Hemingway’s Early Life in Letters .
